Dear Rick:
Thank you for an excellent presentation to our business group of your seminar "How Buyers Value Closely Held Businesses — Finding the 'Street Value'. Our lawyers attending (which I note were principally partners, who often don't easily fmd time for seminars and CLEs) found the presentation informative and the materials informally excellent. We very much appreciate your effort and intend to call on you in the future to repeat the seminar for yet another group of our lawyers.
Very truly yours,
Davis Wright Tremaine LLP,

Thank you for speaking at the seminar Advising the Troubled Business in Oregon cosponsored by the Oregon State Bar CLE Seminars Department. Enclosed are the seminar evaluations; 82% of the registrants rated the program as either excellent or very good.
Again, I want to thank you for the time, effort, and expertise you dedicated to the program. The Bar would not be able to offer such a successful seminar without your participation.

Great program and materials. It was such a popular show that we had to bring in extra chairs. Thanks again for suggesting the presentation. We were the beneficiaries.

Dear Rick:
In our firm's business department we work with many closely held companies. Over the years we have found it is useful to have a fundamental understanding as to how to approach valuing private companies from a practical perspective. The Piper Group, LLC offers an excellent seminar on this topic. As you are aware, our firm benefited from your presentation some years ago, and we recently felt it was time to host it again so that our newer members could benefit from this knowledge.
The latest seminar and your booklet were significantly improved from the earlier version. The booklet now includes a more complete text including PowerPoint slides and many more practical examples for the seminar attendees to compute sample valuations for a business. Of particular interest, one sample exercise was for a financial buyer, while another was for a strategic buyer. Overall, the booklet is a valuable reference book for future use.
One of the main benefits of the seminar was that it approaches valuation from actual sales not theory. As such, the presentation was very worthwhile and informative. I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in learning more about the process of valuing closely held companies.
Very truly yours,
John E. McCormick,
Chair, Business Department
